Bungie says it isn't worried by the recent server problems experienced by EA during its recent SimCity launch.

Despite the fact its recently revealed "shared-world shooter" Destiny will only be playable online, Bungie thinks it's prepared to deal with massive server loads at launch.

"This isn’t our first rodeo," wrote a company representative in response to a fan letter.

"Bungie is no stranger to anxious mobs of players who rush home after a midnight launch and put our best-laid plans to the test. Since a release date hasn’t even been announced yet, we’ll let our team focus on some less frightening but equally important challenges."

Bungie is best known these days for Halo, and though that franchise has a single-player element, it is more known for revolutionising multiplayer shooters, and this isn't a feat accomplished without a great deal of development on the server side.

Even so, the company has never before released an online-only game, so it would be hope they're taking the challenge seriously in light of the disasterous SimCity launch.

No release date has been set for Destiny, but it has been confirmed the game will launch on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4, and is expected to be available for PC and Microsoft's next generation console as well.
