Developers to discuss the studio's world building techniques from concept to production in creating the new IP

Bungie to open up on Destiny at GDC 2013

Halo creator Bungie is set to open up on details about its brand new Destiny IP at the Game Developers Conference.

The talk, entitled Brave New World: New Bungie IP, will discuss the developer’s world building techniques from concept to production and also provide a glimpse into the wider Destiny universe.

The description also confirms that Destiny will be a long-term franchise for the studio, stating the IP will be “a place where the next ten years of great Bungie adventures will unfold”.

The talk will be led by Bungie writer and design director Joe Staten and art director Christopher Barrett.

Few details have been released on Destiny to date aside from some concept art and light story details, which set the game hundreds of years in the future with humanity under the threat of alien invasion.

Bungie has described the game as “social at its core”, suggesting a strong multiplayer element to the title.

The game will be published by Activision after Bungie signed a ten-year publishing deal with the industry giant.

GDC 2013 will take place between March 25th and 29th at the Moscone Centre in San Francisco.
