Quebec-based Frima Studio has received $2m in joint-investments from the Quebec government to increase the quality of employee training.
The firm was selected by several prominent government officials, including the Premier of Quebec Mr Jean Charest, after it revealed plans to create 147 new jobs in the next three years.
“Quebec has become a destination of choice for many multinationals in the interactive entertainment industry. We are known around the world for our creativity and dynamism in that field.” said Mr. Charest.
“This fairly recent reality is owed to people of vision and passion; to people who get involved, and who dare take the necessary risks to build the companies that will, over the years, become symbols of pride for us all."
Firma also claims business growth of 3002% between 2004 and 2009, placing them firmly on top of the L’Actualité’s annual list of the fastest-growing companies in Quebec for the second time in two years.
"We couldn’t be more proud to be the first company to top the L’Actualité’s list two years in a row, and it would not have been possible without our fantastic employees," said CEO of Frima Steve Couture.
“These types of honors and recognitions, along with the government backing, prove to us that we’re going about game development in the right way, and we’re elated to be able to continue to do what we love, the way we want.”
Firma also recently won the Commercial Success award at the Octas awards ceremony, an annual Quebec-based awards ceremony for achievements in information technology.
