Increased international focus for Japanese giant

Capcom looking for global partnerships

In a recent statement, Capcom CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto has declared an active interest in developing partnerships with overseas game companies, reports NextGen.biz.

“In order to maintain stable growth, it is important for Capcom to turn its efforts to increase its share in the overseas market where much of the growth in the home video game and mobile content markets are taking place,” explained Tsujimoto.

Capcom found success with Dead Rising and Lost Planet for the Xbox 360, both of which were developed specifically for western audiences and sold over 1,000,000 copies each. Tsujimoto added, "[mergers and acquisitions with Japanese game companies] would not bring with it content that is popular overseas and thus would not contribute to Capcom’s overseas growth."
