Capcom has become the latest triple-A publisher to actively pursue expansion in the mobile sector, by opening a new arm focused solely on developing for the platform.

As part of the restructure, Japanese mobile games firm Beeline has been absorbed into the new Mobile Business Division and rechristened Capcom Mobile.

Capcom said that it would look to release mobile titles both domestically and further afield, with licensed games in Asia a particular interest.

It added that it would work to ‘aggressively’ utilise its existing catalogue of IP, naming Monster Hunter, Mega Man and Sengoku Basara as among the licences that would see the release of four new mobile titles by April 2017.

The publisher added its expectation that the global mobile market would grow in value from $27.5 billion in 2015 to $37.4 billion in 2019.
