UK TV station helps competition expand further with Wales a priority region in 2008

Channel 4 backs Dare to be Digital

Game design competition Dare to be Digital, organised by the University of Abertay, has scored baking from UK TV station Channel 4.

The competition seeks out upcoming game design talent – this year, the competition expanded to include bases in Guildford and Dublin as well as Abertay’s host centre. With Channel 4’s involvement the event’s scope will widen even further for next year, with Wales a priority region for 2008’s competition. A selection committee will be in place in Cardiff by February 2008 to identify the teams who should go forward to benefit from the comprehensive package of support available.

Channel 4 chief exec Andy Duncan said: “Channel 4 is driven by innovation, talent and risk-taking and all of these are inherent in the Dare to be Digital competition.

“Video game design and production requires a fusion of art and science and Dare brings together the top young talent from regional centres who will be vital to the future of digital broadcasting in this area.
