Former Codies studio execs Cheshire and Marshall leading new real-time games app firm

Codemasters vets return with new UK digital publisher Caperfly

A new UK start-up dedicated to digital games publishing came out of stealth mode today, spearheaded by former Codemasters Studios boss Gavin Cheshire.

Called Caperfly, the outfit is aming to deliver high quality games for iOS, Android and Smart TV that specifically use real-time data.

The firm came out of hiding with its Develop conference debut today.

Cheshire is CEO of Caperfly, and the management team are former colleagues including Bryan Marshall, COO/CTO at Caperfly responsible for IP and technologies, who was responsible for the Codemasters technology platform that powered the likes of Dirt and F1.

The firm is backed by angel investors and is HQ’d in Leamington Spa.

Cheshire said: “We are building a team of people with a strong reputation for delivering triple-A titles and commercial success. We aim to repeat that success in a different market environment. I am extremely confident that we have the experience to achieve more, with an initial focus on publishing in the mobile gaming sector.

“We are excited about the future. We are building a fantastic team here at Caperfly, with all of our games experience and collective abilities. With our imagination, we are exploring what our applications can deliver to mobile gamers.

“Mobile is changing how people interact, play games and consume media. Our desire is to make gaming applications that enable new levels of enjoyment for the user.”
