Unity creators can now trial a new tool that allows devs to work together on a single scene simultaneously.

Scene Fusion adds collaborative world building in the form of a platform-as-a-service, hosting in-development games in a cloud environment to allow workers such as designers, artists and coders to all chip in at the same time.

The games are compressed using a proprietary technology created by parent firm KinematicSoup, and the software can be scaled to studio size and accessed through the existing Unity UI.

Scene Fusion’s beta has now expanded to allow access by developers worldwide for the first time.

“As game development has evolved, things like rapid prototyping, collaborative design, and iterative development have become increasingly important,” said KinematicSoup CEO Justin McMichael.

“Unfortunately, these concepts can be difficult to realise as teams become more globally distributed, and the development engines they use do not support these processes.

“Scene Fusion is meant to provide studios with the ability to collaborate in ways never before possible, regardless of geographic distribution or current workflows.”
