He leaves Austin-based developer Certain Affinity

Corey May joins 2K Games as senior narrative director

Corey May is departing Austin-based Certain Affinity for a new role as senior narrative director at 2K Games. He’s leaving behind the role of narrative director at Certain Affinity.

May has previously done narrative work for Electronic Arts and Ubisoft, working on the Assassin’s Creed and Prince of Persia franchises. He was at Ubisoft for nearly 8 years, and gained a reputation for being one of the stronger storytellers in the games industry.

May left Ubisoft for Certain Affinity in the middle of 2015 as part of Certain Affinity’s push to redefine itself as a AAA studio. A year and a half after his hire, and Certain Affinity were involved in just two announced titles: DOOM — where they co-developed the multiplayer with id Software — and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered — Co-developed with Raven Software — neither of which had Certain Affinity’s name on the cover.

There’s no word on what May will be working on in his new role at 2K or what his specific remit will be, as the news has been gleaned largely from an announcement on facebook. He hasn’t yet updated his LinkedIn profile, and there’s not yet been an official statement from 2K Games.
