Creative Skillset's Challenge Fund is now open and is accepting bids from games, film, TV, animation and VFX firms. Successful applicants will receive support with their training funding for the next two years.
It’s all funded “by voluntary industry contributions with Government match funding industry pound for pound”. Applications can be for between £10,000 and £1m.
“Our industries are big business,” former Eidos life president Ian Livingstone stated.
“The video games industry is the largest entertainment industry in the world. But in order to remain in the global games development league table, we need to plug identified skills gaps and shortages and the Challenge Fund could be an essential tool in achieving this.”
Minister for Culture Ed Vaizey added: “The Challenge Fund will provide excellent opportunities for employers to bid for Government match funding to support training and skills in the digital content sectors. It will maintain the UK’s competitiveness, equipping new entrants with the skills and know-how to provide a dynamic future for the Creative Industries.
“Innovation is at the heart of the Challenge Fund and we hope there will be applications that foster creativity and diversity to develop the skills base right across the country.”
