Crytek co-founder Cevat Yerli has pledged to continue PC support, just days after discovering the company’s biggest game yet has leaked onto torrent sites.
“While we are deeply disappointed by these events, we are all completely overwhelmed by the support we have received from you, our community," Yerli said in a statement.
Over the weekend, EA announced that an “unfinished” version of Crysis 2 was being illicitly downloaded via filesharing sites.
An EA statement reminded that piracy is damaging the PC games industry – a position the publisher is not alone in taking.
Numerous companies, including Crytek and Epic Games, have expanded their remit to console games while the PC market still suffers from widespread piracy.
Yet Yerli, whose company engages with the PC community via mods and basic engine sharing, will not back away from the mouse and keyboard platform.
"Despite this unfortunate incident, we can assure you that PC gaming is very important to us and will always be important to Crytek in the future. We are all still focused on delivering a great gaming experience to our true and honest fans. I hope you will enjoy Crysis 2 on PC, as we think it is our best PC game yet."
