Dare to be Digital 2014 team Unorthobox talks exclusively to Develop about working on their entry title AllY.

Dare Blogs: Unorthobox’s classic arcade multiplayer

What’s your game?
AllY is a game that harkens to classic arcade action with four people who take on the role of robots and compete against one another in chaotic environments. The catch is that alliances switch over the course of a single match – you win points by stunning and tagging people to bring them onto the same team as you. If somebody has already tagged you to bring you onto their team, however, you will also be winning points for them, so watch out.

What has the Dare experience been like?
In a word, fast. When we look at the amount of time we have left we can’t believe that it’s all happened so fast, but then you look back over the past few weeks and remember just how much has actually happened, how much the game has changed and how many people you’ve met and you realise where all that time went.

What have you learned from Dare?
We’ve learned how to work constantly to get the result that you want. We’ve learned to appreciate how much a game can change – even in a short project like this one. We’ve learned to be flexible and to make decisions that will deliver the best experience for the players. Ultimately we’ve learned how to make better games.

Are you looking forward to ProtoPlay?
Yes of course. Mostly in anticipation to see all of our hard work pay off. As long as people enjoy playing what we’ve made we’ll be happy.

What are your ambitions after Dare?
We want as many people to be able to play AllY as possible and we know it will be well received by the public at Protoplay. With that in mind, our aim is to see AllY released on the PC as a completed product.
