The British Academy of Film and Televsion Arts has named David Braben the winner of this year’s Fellowship award.

The founder of Frontier Developments joins a roster of previous Fellowship winners that includes Gabe Newell, Peter Molyneux, Shigeru Miyamoto and Will Wright.

Braben’s career stretches back to 1982 when he co-developed classic space simulator Elite. Since then he has developed and overseen development of numerous titles, including Thrillville, Rollercoaster Tycoon and last year’s Elite: Dangerous.

He is also known for his work on Raspberry Pi and is currently a trustee of the Raspberry Pi Foundation.

“I am absolutely delighted to be receiving a BAFTA Fellowship; it is an incredible honour,” said Braben. “I have a truly great team behind me at Frontier, and without them I would not be receiving this, so the honour is effectively for all of us.”

Braben will receive his prize at the British Academy Games Awards in London on Thursday, March 12th.
