Team17 boss says: "There's simply far too few women at the top level of our industry"

Debbie Bestwick wins Women in Games’ Hall of Fame award

Debbie Bestwick has received this year’s Hall of Fame award at the European Women in Games Conference 2015.

Bestwick was not only honoured for her successful career – transforming developer Team17 into the indie publisher it is today – but also for her years of work encouraging women to explore opportunities in the games industry.

She continues to actively mentor women in the industry, but believe there is still a lot of work to be done.

"There’s simply far too few women at the top level of our industry," Bestwick told attendees, offering the following advice to those who want to make a career in the games space:

"Very few peole have the privelege to be part of such a wonderful industry. Don’t be afraid of anything. If you don’t try, if you don’t go for it, you’re not going to get anywhere. Try hard, aim for the top, and don’t let anyone get in your way."

"We need more women at the top to make a difference."
