Sony's European studios VP to open November 5th event

Denny to keynote Develop Liverpool

Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios senior vice president, Michael Denny, will give the opening keynote presentation at the Develop in Liverpool conference taking place next month.

Organisers Tandem Events announced today that Denny’s keynote will provide insight into what SCE’s first-party studios are looking for when commissioning original IPs from independent developers.

Denny’s central role at SCE sees him manage all internal studios and externally developed first party productions, as well as oversee European product development plans.

His appearance at Develop in Liverpool – which takes place at the ACC in Liverpool on Thursday 5 November – adds to a comprehensive list of industry luminaries taking part in the key event. Denny will add to speaker sessions from the likes of Bizarre Creations, Disney Black Rock Studios, Team 17 and SCEE’s Dan Bardino and Neil Brown.

The full list of speakers can be found here.

“The Develop conference always represents an important gathering for the Industry, offering a great opportunity for sharing both knowledge and insights,” said Denny.

“The UK remains a beacon for the Global games development industry, and the North West has been a creative hub within the UK development scene for many years. I’m very much looking forward to the event, and it’s a privilege to be invited to deliver the opening keynote at this inaugural event in Liverpool.”

Meanwhile, Develop in Liverpool organisers have teamed up with Software City – an event running alongside Develop that will showcase the Northwest region’s dynamic technology sector.

Delegates from both events will get together in the evening to hear a keynote address from high-tech entrepreneur Richard Farleigh (of Dragon’s Den fame) before heading off to a jointly-hosted networking after-party, sponsored by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.
