Below is Develop’s breakdown of the world’s most successful games studios, measured by UK revenue at retail, with data provided by GfK Chart-Track.
Please note that digital sales are not included in the calculations, nor are retail transactions made outside the UK. The chart is intended to provide a snapshot of the most bankable studios in the world today.

EA Canada topped the charts thanks to the release of FIFA 14, while Monolith took second spot after the success of Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
UK studios dominated the rankings with seven studios in the top 20. These developers were Playground Games, Creative Assembly, Evolution Studios, Sumo Digital, 4J Studios, Traveller’s Tales and Codemasters Birmingham. The USA meanwhile had six studios in the top 20, with Japan close behind with four.
In the top 20, just six were independent studios as publisher-owned developers dominated.
