Speaking to Develop, Brand Protect barrister Bernard Whyatt has warned developers that they must increase their efforts to protect their IP globally, as trademark ownership increasingly becomes an international competition.
“The Japanese developers are becoming more aggressive in the way that they want to own intellectual property in the UK and in Europe. Developers must plan to protect and promote their intellectual property here and abroad,” suggested Whyatt.
In the full feature, Whyatt offers his informed insight into a number of issues surrounding the legal protection of IP, and gives an array of advice as he argues a convincing case for studios pursuing a more vigilant understanding of copyright legalese.
