There’s a great guide to creating games in HTML5 here, covering five key game engines for developers. In the guide, you’ll find 2D engines Construct 2, Phaser and Cocos2d-JS, and 3D engines BabylonJS and PlayCanvas. How many have you tried? If you want to get started on a new engine, there are also guides to getting started with Phaser, Cocos2d-JS and BabylonJS available.
These engines and many more can be used within the Intel XDK, which you can download for free here. It’s a cross-platform development environment that helps you to build your game from concept to final product. It also includes a number of testing features to smooth out any bugs before launch. For example, you can set up a virtual iPhone, Android smartphone, or Windows 10 tablet within Intel XDK, and test your game on that device. If there are any bugs, you can switch straight to your code to fix them. Here are some great tips to you get started with Intel XDK.
The guide to HTML5 libraries also includes some tips for optimising your code to run faster on iOS or Android. For more support with your HTML5 app development, check out the HTML5 section of the Intel Developer Zone.
