Disney and the Future Internet Consortium have launched a new game development competition looking for experimental games that can be played with large numbers of players.
In association with Abertay University, the Future Internet Games Contest is after titles that can "bridge the physical and virtual world" in three specific areas: Augmented reality games, location-based installations and city-wide gaming.
Open to web and mobile games, a £2,000 prize is up for grabs for the winning team. The winners may also have the opportunities to work with a Disney-led consortium.
The contest will focus on the Pervasive games platform, which focuses on multiplayer mobile games. The deadline for submissions is June 10th.
“This is an excellent opportunity for budding game developers and veterans alike across Europe to show their skills on a highly visible and important stage as part of our Future Internet Content project," said Disney Research lead Kenny Mitchell.
Abertay computer games education head Louis Natanson added: "Abertay University is delighted to work with Disney on the Future Internet Games Contest, and we look forward to seeing how game developers address this challenge.
