More than 30 games firms have signed up to support One Special Day, a fundraising initiative by charity SpecialEffect.

All companies involved are donating 100 per cent of a revenue stream to the organisation based solely on today’s sales. This can include money generated from specific DLC, ads or even the sale of entire games and bundles.

Developers are leading the way with fundraising efforts, with studios on board including The Chinese Room, Media Molecule, First Touch Games, New Star Games, Roll7, Nomad Games, Payload Studios, Magic Notion, Tammeka Games, We Love Dragons, Acid Nerve, Free Lives, Red Kite Games and more.

You can find a full list of the charity’s partners, as well as the games they’re using to drive fundraising, at the One Special Day website.

“I would urge people to back this exciting project in support of the life-changing work of the charity,” said Ian Livingstone CBE.

“Play is natural, fun and rewarding and should be enjoyed by everybody. The incredible work that SpecialEffect does by using technology to modify games devices to give people with disabilities a quality of life they would otherwise miss out on is extraordinary.”

SpecialEffect founder and CEO Mick Donegan added” “All the team at SpecialEffect are incredibly grateful for the effort and enthusiasm that the all the participating companies and their staff are putting into One Special Day. We feel deeply proud and honoured to have their support, and the money raised will transform the lives of many, many people with disabilities.”

SpecialEffect hopes to raise £25,000 by the end of the day.
