South Korean developer Innospark has raised $6.5m in a Series B funding round.

The investment will be used to expand its development team and the creation of new mobile games. It aims to diversify its portfolio beyond social games and into mid-core markets such as simulation titles and RPGs.

Venture capital firm Keynote Ventures, SL Investment and Company K Partners led the funding round.

“This investment is a starting point for Innospark to build a long-term business partnership with Keytone Ventures as well as SL Investment and Company K Partners Limited,” said Innospark CEO Jae Chan Shin.

“This will lead Innospark to not only penetrate the Chinese market, but also succeed in the global market. Also, it will be helpful to accelerate our development process for multi-screen platforms, such as Windows 10.”
