PlayStation confirms development is still on track for much-delayed racer, despite redundancies at Evolution Studios

DriveClub unaffected by Sony layoffs

Evolution Studios were struck by layoffs today, but Sony has confirmed to Develop that this will not affect DriveClub.

It was reported this morning that the game’s developer Evolution was one of three studios – the other two being Guerrilla Cambridge and SCE London Studio – that were subject to numerous redundancies today.

Sony once again issued a statement claiming the job losses were part of "a focused restructure" of each studio, prompted by "regular reviews" of Sony Worldwide Studios.

The news sparked further rumours of trouble for DriveClub, a title that was initially meant to be available at the launch of PlayStation 4 and has since been taken ‘back to the drawing board’

But a Sony spokesperson told Develop the game "will not be affected by these changes at all".

There’s still no word on how many people were affected by today’s layoffs, or when we’ll hear more on DriveClub.
