Slightly Mad studios has hired Renault Clio Cup driver Nicolas Hamilton as handling consultant for its crowdfunded racing sim Project Cars.
In the world of racing simulations it’s important for studios to get a competitive edge in realism, but technical data like CAD files and laser-scans of tracks come with a big price tag.
What may be more important for the consumer is the actual feel of being behind the wheel of a professional racing machine.
This is where Hamilton comes in.
By getting the handling right, Slightly Mad can be sure that when a player sits down behind the wheel of their sim racing rig, they are transported into the exciting world of motorsport – minus the huge expense and possibility of firey demise.
Hamilton is an ideal choice for this role, as he has enough on-track experience to lend authority to a developer, but is also an avid sim racer and knows what is needed to translate the track to the living room.
The 20-year old has battled cerebral palsy to launch a racing career that began in karting at the age of seven and has culminated in what is now his second season racing for T.C.R. in the Renault Clio Cup.
