Andrew Wilson to discuss how to adapt to the social games movement

EA Sports boss to open Develop Conference

The 2011 Develop Conference will open with a keynote from EA Sports exec Andrew Wilson, event organiser Tandem has announced.

Wilson, the senior vice president of worldwide development at EA Sports, will address the industry in a speech entitled Moving the Goalposts – Bringing Social Experiences to all Game Platforms.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the Develop Conference," Wilson said.

"As consumption behaviours, consumer demands and business models rapidly evolve in our industry, we have an opportunity to reset expectations on how we make all games social, regardless of the platform.

“This event will be a terrific platform to have these kinds of discussions about the future of the videogame industry.”

The Develop Conference is a Brighton-based three-day industry event, offering networking opportunities, expo space, and the chance for developers to discuss their craft.

Wilson’s keynote takes place on the first day, Tuesday July 19th. This day is dubbed ‘Evolve’, an online-themed opening day programme focusing on new platforms, new technologies and new markets.

Moshi Monsters maestro Michael Acton Smith will provide a closing keynote on the Tuesday.

Further Develop Conference keynotes and speakers will be announced soon, Tandem said.

“It’s a great reflection on the influence, importance and inclusive nature of the Develop Conference that all games companies – from giants like EA, to indies and one man teams – both see the benefits and feel at home in Brighton,” said Tandem Events managing director Andy Lane.
