The Kickstarter campaign for The Black Glove, a first-person adventure from a new studio formed by ex-BioShock developers, has failed.

Despite having close to six thousand backers, the crowdfunding appeal fell more than $330,000 short of its $550,000 target, but developer Day For Night Games is determined to continue work on the game.

In its latest update on the game's Kickstarter page, the team said they "mean to fight like hell to keep it from being cancelled", but is reluctant to launch another crowdfunding appeal with a lower goal.

"We don't have angel investors or a publisher," explained former Irrational dev and Day For Night lead Joe Fielder. "We asked for the total we needed to guarantee that we could self-publish the game within a year with 6+ hours of content for $20.

"If we turned around immediately and asked for less without having secured the rest of the funds necessary, we wouldn't be able to guarantee our Kickstarter backers that we could deliver the game.

"We're pursuing all options. We're beginning to talk to all the publishers who have reached out over the last few weeks. We have a few other ideas, as well."

Fielder promised further updates will appear when things have developed on the studio's website and via Twitter.

Developer Day For Night games was founded by several former Irrational Games staff after the BioShock studio laid off the majority of its workforce.
