The hardware company behind eye-tracking technology is offering a $1m fund to encourage more developers to use its tools in their games.

Tobii’s ‘Boost to the Big Time’ initiative is aimed at studios working on PC games, regardless of the scope of the game or intended distribution channels, GamaSutra reports.

Developers interested in taking part will need to sign up for a $139 dev kit. Tobii’s tech supports Unreal and Unity, and has been used in Assassin’s Creed Rogue and Avalanche Studios’ The Hunter: Primal.

Tobii will pre-purchase copies of your game so that it can include it with PC hardware. There will also be promotional opportunities with Tobii and its partners, targeting the press and trade shows.

“With the Tobii EyeX Dev Kit, game developers can add incredibly immersive experiences to their games with eye-tracking,” the firm writes.

“The Boost to the Big Time offers strong potential to innovate, global game distribution, stellar marketing opportunities, cash payments and development support for those developers and studios that show superior creativity and promise in bringing PC gaming to the next level with Tobii eye-tracking.”
