Faceware Technologies, who facial motion capture software, has announced a new Live SDK for its Faceware Live solution. The new SDK will be debuted at SIGGRAPH 2017.
Faceware Live is a facial motion capture technology, which allows for markerless 3D capture. The new Live SDK for the software will allow developers to build interactive applications that will be able to use real-time facial motions.
The SDK will be able to track faces from any live camera feed or media source, such as a movie or image file, and can track up to 82 points on a face. The real-time element of the software means that there should be no latency noticeable to the user and calibration of faces will only take one second. This will aid not only developers who are looking to capture animations for their projects without the need for large, costly setups, but will also help those developers who are using augmented and mixed reality in their projects.
We’re really excited to put our real time facial tracking technology directly into the hands of developers,” said the director of software and technology, Jay Grenier. “Faceware Live has or is being used for a number of real-time applications, such as Hasbro’s live-streamed social media announcement for Monopoly and the recent Macinness-Scott installation at Sotheby’s ‘Art of VR’ event in New York. And now, with Faceware LiveSDK, the community is about to get a fantastic new tool to develop their own amazing applications.”
“With the rise in VR/AR/MR, interactive marketing, and the use of CG, we’re seeing a growing number of inquiries from many different markets,” said vice president of business development, Peter Busch. “Rather than addressing each and every request, we’ve created a SDK to enable developers to develop the tools they need to meet their own needs. We’ve got some amazing use cases I can’t wait to talk about.”
