Flappy Bird creator partners with Obokaidem for new game

The studio behind one of mobile’s biggest viral hits has teased its next release.

DotGears released Flappy Bird in 2013, with the simple ‘touch to fly’ title rocketing to mainstream success in 2014.

As of January 2014, it was the most downloaded free title of all time on the iOS App Store, with creator Dong Nguyen claiming that more than $50,000 was being generated in daily advertising revenue.

In February 2014, Nguyen pulled the game from sale on Android and iOS, citing its overly-addictive nature. A revised version was launched exclusively for Amazon Fire TV in August 2014.

Now, DotGears has announced its collaboration with Japanese developer Obokaidem, best known for the mobile arcade title Pick-Xell.

According to Serkantoto, the alliance will focus on smartphone development, with Obokaidem remaining DotGear’s only partner for the foreseeable future.

The two are currently working on a new game codenamed ‘N Project’, with a worldwide iOS release planned for later in 2016.

Details are scarce, with the only information being that the title will be ‘ninja-themed’. A single screenshot was also released (main image).
