Develop contributor â??call to armsâ?? receives massive response, kicks-off in top gear

Flying start for new Develop blogs

Following a recent call for submissions to its online and magazine content, Develop has begun publishing what will be a strong line-up of written contributions from within the industry.

That starts today, with experienced industry professional Malcolm Sparrow’s blog on surviving twenty years working in video games development.

The blog is set to be the first in a new wave of Develop opinion pieces from people both inside and outside of the development industry on topics as wide-ranging as gender and racial issues in gaming, to tutorials on the major middleware and development tools available today.

The recent call for submissions asked “all developers, writers and industry folk who want to write opinion pieces, tech guides, reviews, essays and more” to get in touch with Develop with all ideas and suggestions for new content.

The response was huge, and right now the Develop team are still sorting through emails and responding as quickly as possible to everyone who got in touch.

But we still want more.

So if you love games and the industry that exists around it, and you have an opinion, get involved.

We’re open to any suggestions – want to write technical tutorials or guides offering advice to fellow developers?

What about development diaries or regular blogs? Excerpts from your book?

Career advice, best practices your company has learned in its history – even reviews and analysis of new games.

Whether you work as a games developer, publisher, format-holder, outsourcer, animation or audio expert, industry recruitment specialist, or analyst, we want to hear from you.

We can’t promise to publish everything – but every user-submission from the industry will be carefully considered.

More detailed writers’ guidance can be supplied on request. If you’re interested, get in touch with the Develop team via Stuart Richardson on email at stuart.richardson@intentmedia.co.uk, or call the editorial team on 01992 535 646.
