Newly named exec director Karl Hilton makes investment in Avakin Life developer

Former Crytek UK MD joins Lockwood

Former Crytek UK MD Karl Hilton has joined Nottingham studio Lockwood Publishing as non-executive director.

Hilton, who recently also joined Creative England as programme executive, has been working with the studio part-time for the past few months and assisting with business development.

He has also invested money in the studio, the first time Lockwood has received any such funding.

"He’s helping with the business development, and he’s got a couple of skillsets,” said Lockwood Publishing CEO Halli Bjornsson. “He’s just kind of joined the team really, we’re not incredibly formal here, so it’s just whatever he can help us out with.”

He added: “He’s also made a little bit of investment in the company as well. Up to this point we’ve actually never had any investment, it’s all just bootstrap really.”

Lockwood Publishing is currently developing social life sim Avakin Life for mobile, and previously worked on PlayStation Home before its closure earlier this year.
