Ex-Relentless lead programmer Hussain Sheikh to join Velocity dev with immediate effect

FuturLab hires new head of technology

Brighton studio FuturLab has hired Relentless Software lead programmer as its new head of technology.

As well as previously working at Relentless, Hussain Sheikh has worked at Black Rock Studio as lead programmer and also as team lead for visual effects on Split/Second.

While at his previous role at Relentless, Sheikh helped to oversee the development of technology for Kinect title NatGeo TV.

“Our goal is to give gamers something they can cherish, and whilst a large part of that requires world-class design, we also recognise that technical excellence is of paramount importance,” said FuturLab MD James Marsden.

“So we’re delighted to announce that Hussain will be joining us immediately, bringing a great deal of experience and leadership to our technical team. His ability to create very pretty visual effects should keep our fans happy too.”

Skeikh added: “I am thrilled to be joining FuturLab as they possess enormous creative energy, and have achieved some great success over the past few years. I am looking forward to contributing to their growing success, sharing lessons I’ve learned working on triple-A titles. It’s going to be an exciting mix of art and technology and I can’t wait to get started.”

FuturLab has worked on a number of mobile and console titles including Velocity, Coconut Dodge and Surge.
