Gaikai hires Konami exec as VP of business development

Cloud gaming outfit Gaikai has appointed Konami’s digital entertainment VP of acquisitions and franchise development as its new VP of business development.

In her new role, Careen Yapp will be responsible for supporting business development activities, including the acquisition of new partners and content properties for future cloud services offered by Sony.

As well as working at Konami, Yapp has previously worked at companies such as D3Publisher and THQ.

Yapp also currently serves as a board member for the Electronic Software Association and for the Game Connection advisory board.

“I could not be more excited to join Gaikai,” said Yapp.

“The talented team at the company has pioneered the cloud gaming market, and SCE’s plans for Gaikai’s technology will further its leadership by delivering amazing next-generation experiences for gamers around the world.”

Gaikai chief business officer Robert Stevenson added: “We are delighted to have Careen join Gaikai. Her strong background in both business and gaming will add further depth to our team, helping us continue to develop the most consumer accessible and content rich cloud streaming experiences available.”
