Storytelling and Games Conference to take place in Vienna, Austria

Games storytelling event announced

A new games storytelling conference has been announced, taking place in Vienna, Austria on September 27th 2011.

Stagconf – the Storytelling and Games Conference – will be held in the city’s Museum of Natural History, with the event’s organisers saying it will be an “opportunity for game designers, writers, developers, students and enthusiasts to meet some of the world’s leading experts on storytelling and games.”

“Games are evolving more rapidly than ever. Whole new platforms have popped up over the last few years, each offering new opportunities to tell stories,” states a press release.

“At the same time, storytelling in games is not a solved problem. Which approaches work and which don’t? What can we learn from other media? What new, innovative experiences can we create?

“Stagconf brings together top international game designers and writers to discuss these questions.”

Confirmed speakers include storytelling expert Lee Sheldon, Echo Bazaar’s Chief Narrative Officer Alexis Kennedy, Ubisoft’s Central Clancy Writer Richard Dansky, development director and former Edge editor Margaret Robertson and game design mastermind Stephane Bura.

More information can be found on the official event website.
