U.S. retailer offers credit codes for digital download service

GameStop to sell Steam Wallet cards

A rumor circulating that GameStop would be offering customers Steam Wallet cards has been confirmed.

Twenty and fifty dollar cards hit shelves at the major U.S. retailer today, which suggests GameStop may be scaling down its own plans for digital distribution.

GameStop is the most recognised game retailer in the world and a leader in providing a state-of-the-art shopping experience for its customers," Jason Holtman, Valve’s director of business development told Games Industry International.

"Offering Steam Wallet codes at GameStop extends more options and convenience to gamers around to the world."

"We are thrilled to be partnering with Valve on this new initiative," added Steve Nix, GameStop’s manager for digital distribution.

"This gives even more options to customers now that they can put money in their Steam Wallet using cash, gift cards or trade credits through our convenient neighbourhood locations."
