The newest version of Granite SDK has been launched, giving the texture steaming software a significant overhaul.

In what creator Graphine Software is calling a “major redesign”, Granite 3.0 features new layer and caching systems, more efficient video memory usage and performance optimisations. It also takes up less space on disk now.

Granite is used to steam texture data into any video game scenes with high pixel density. Textures of 2K, 4K, 8K and 16K can be streamed while the video memory will still be kept under 1GB.

The standalone Granite SDK integrates into any game engine, while plug-in versions are available for Unity and Unreal.

Graphine CEO Aljosha Demeulemeester: “Granite SDK 3.0 is a major update from Granite SDK 2.6 and a significant redesign that prepares Granite for the future.

“The upgrade gives artists total material freedom. It also contains many optimisations that make Granite – already the most advanced and optimised streaming system – even faster.”
