Indie dev Grey Alien Games has teamed up with audio specialist Power Up Audio on its upcoming PC RPG card battler Shadowhand.
Dorset-based Grey Alien is known for commercial games including Spooky Bonus and Regency Solitaire, and is run by husband-and-wife partnership Jake Birkett and Helen Carmichael.
Meanwhile, Power Up is located in Vancouver, Canada and has worked on titles such as Darkest Dungeon and Crypt of the Necrodancer – the latter swiping the Best Audio award at this year’s Game Developers Awards.
“As well as beautiful background soundscapes and battle sounds, the Power Up Audio team brings their expertise in using and balancing sound to add depth to the 18th-century world of Shadowhand,” said Birkett.
“I have a great deal of respect for their work, so was delighted that they agreed to be part of the project.”
“Power Up Audio is excited to be working with Grey Alien Games,” added Jeff Tangsoc, studio director at Power Up Audio.
“We are big fans of Regency Solitaire and Grey Alien’s philosophy in creating fun games borne out of passion. As such, Shadowhand is the perfect type of game that Power Up strives to collaborate on.
“We are excited to show players how our audio soundscapes can further immerse them in the world Jake and Helen have created.”
