In news that makes us genuinely proud to be British, London-based developer Headstrong has been awarded a Guiness World Record as the ‘most profane game ever’.
According to the legendary awards body, the studio’s recent House of the Dead: Overkill features the word ‘fuck’ a whopping 189 times – more than any other game in existence.
"It is a dubious honour to receive such an accolade working in an industry where so often the fruits of your labours are derided and dismissed for being puerile or irresponsible," said Jonathan Burroughs, writer of the game.
"But in the case of House Of The Dead: Overkill, a little puerility was the order of business. Parodying the profane excess of grindhouse cinema was Headstrong’s objective and I am flattered that this record acknowledges that we not only rose to that challenge, but entirely exceeded it."
