Hello Games has now officially announced Hello Labs, a fund set tup to support procedural generation-based and otherwise experimental game projects, helping one or two titles at a time through development.

The fund was set up after Hello Games themselves ran into problems financially in the years they spent developing space-em-up No Man's Sky. The hope is that this fund can help creators in similar positions keep their head above water.

The project was quietly revealed at GDC during Sean Murray's talk, which we mentioned at the time, but at that stage, it wasn't entirely certain what role the fund would play. Here, it seems that the initiative is aiming to help out the little guy.

Not that Hello Games are done with No Man's Sky just yet. Last week, the game snagged the Innovation Award at the Game Developers Choice awards, and this week they released the Pathfinder update. The update makes the game compatible with some of the PS4 Pro's significant features, letting you explore each other's base and also go for a drive on the surface of a planet in a shiny new car.
