Studio Hide&Seek is hosting a one-day conference set to deliver a number of sessions and talks on the subject of games and play in public spaces.
Hide&Seek, famous for its ‘playground games’ designed for physical play in open spaces, has gathered a line-up of speakers and game theorists, including musician, writer, consultant and activist Pat Kane, Kars Alfrink of Hubbub, iShed director Clare Reddington, and the Arts Council England’s Charles Beckett.
Issues set to be discussed at the Playing In Public: The Hide&Seek Weekender Conference include the impact of the London Olympics on perceptions of play, the do’s and don’ts of commissioning and developing technology for public areas, the investment potential of such projects, and the curation of games designed for physical spaces.
The Playing In Public: The Hide&Seek Weekender Conference takes place at the Southbank Centre in central London, and concludes Hide&Seek’s four-day Weekender event, which brings together games,talks, and other art forms,. and welcomes families and individuals of all ages.
Tickets for the one-day Playing In Public: The Hide&Seek Weekender Conference are available from the Southbank Centre website, costing £60, or £30 for concessions, which includes students, those unemployed and ‘low-income artists’.
