How to build your first Internet of Things applications

In this blog, I’ll give you some pointers to get you started with flashing LEDs on an Internet of Things (IoT) development board. It’s the ‘Hello World!’ of electronics, and could be your first step towards making connected devices that will form part of the rapidly growing IoT industry.

The Intel® Galileo board is designed with makers and electronics enthusiasts in mind, and provides a great Arduino-compatible base for your IoT and electronics projects.

You can use the board with the Arduino IDE or Eclipse, depending on your preference and there are guides to getting started available for both:

Once you’ve got the software installed, the traditional first thing anyone tries is blinking an LED. You don’t even need to connect any components, because the demo file shows you how to blink a built-in light on the board. Follow these instructions to install the blinking light example on your board and run it:
