HTC is preparing to expand its Viveport VR marketplace to developers around the world following an initial launch in China.

The store includes both games and experiences for the Vive headset, which HTC co-created with Valve, and was described by HTC VR exec Shen Ye as targeting “people who can’t use Steam” ahead of its China launch in January.

Viveport is designated as a government-approved storefront in China, meaning devs who release their games through the service will be subject to the necessary licences and national content review. All apps launched through Viveport must be localised into Chinese, HTC added in its FAQ.

HTC has now opened up applications for developers around the globe to register for Viveport’s beta, ahead of a worldwide rollout later in 2016.
