The first-ever Vision Awards have revealed the best virtual and augmented reality experiences of the last year.

The ceremony takes place during the Vision VR/AR Summit in Hollywood on February 10th and 11th, and will be hosted by University of Southern California senior research fellow Nonny de la Pena.

Among those judging the finalists will be Microsoft’s Brandon Bray, Sony’s Jed Ashforth, Oculus’ Chris Pruett, Unity’s Timoni West, PTC’s Per Nielsen and UploadVR’s Will Mason.

The shortlist for Best Game stars I Expect You to Die, Budget Cuts and Classroom Aquatic from Schell Games, Neat Corporation and Sunken Places, respectively.

Meanwhile, Technical Achievement will be battled over by Modbox, Residential Condominium Architectural and EasyAR Engine.

Separate categories decide the finest VR and AR experience of 2015.

The former counts Radial Games’ Fantastic Contraption (pictured), Owlchemy Labs’ Job Simulator and Thunderbird: The Legend Begins by Kai and Tony Davidson among its nominees.

The shortlisted AR finalists are SRG United Solutions’ Table Zombies, Gelly Bomb Games’ Eleanor of Ayer and Anomaly Productions’ Faster Than Light.

The two categories collide in the grand Vision Inspire Award, with I Expect You To Die, Fantastic Contraption and Faster Than Light tipped for success.
