Indian mobile gaming start-up Moonfrog Labs has secured $15m in Series A funding from Tiger Global and Sequoia Capital.

The firm will use the investment to expand its team and develop new mobile titles targeted at Indian audiences across various genres including action, RPG and casino.

The funding round follows the $1m seed capital the firm raised from Sequoia Capital in 2014.

To date the studio has released two games, including Team Patti Gold, which has been downloaded more than two million times on Android and iOS.

“There is a huge gap in local content available to Indian gamers,” said Moonfrog co-founder Tanay Tayal.

“Our aim is to bridge this gap and provide exciting, engaging experiences for India’s growing mobile player base. This round of funding is a vote of confidence in our ability, it will help us grow our talented team and redefine mobile entertainment in India.”

Moonfrog Labs was founded in 2013 by Tanay Tayal, Ankit Jain, Kumar Puspesh, Oliver Jones (pictured) and Dimpalkumar Maisuriya.
