What do shadow theatre and Intel RealSense have in common?

More than you would think, thanks to prototype app Ombre Fabula’s use of Intel RealSense to create a gesture-controlled shadow play. Players can make the shape of a rabbit, bird or dragon with their hands to bring that character into the story.

Designed from the ground up with hand and gesture-tracking in mind, Ombre Fabula uses the Intel RealSense SDK to provide the contours (or outlines) of the hand gestures. The Intel RealSense SDK used in Ombre Fabula is available to download for free.

Separately, an updated version of the SDK was launched last month, including major improvements to its hand tracking and 3D scanning capabilities.
