Cambridge studio lays off staff working on experimental projects

Jagex cuts ten more jobs

RuneScape developer Jagex has laid off more ten staff following redundancies enacted earlier this month.

As reported by GamesIndustry International, the firm has cut the jobs of staff working on new and experimental projects, which it felt did not warrant further investment.

Jagex said it would continue to support laid off staff and would be reaching out to new studios for work opportunities elsewhere.

"The company’s #1 focus this year is on its flagship titles RuneScape and Transformers Universe,” said a spokesperson.

"Therefore we have had to make some difficult decisions on priorities which will affect ten employees. These individuals were working on new experimental projects which ultimately did not warrant further investment. We will naturally continue to support and help those affected during this difficult time and also reach out to other companies for outplacements opportunities."

Last month it was reported the Cambridge-based developer had cut 13 staff from its Transformers Universe development team.
