Boston, Massachusetts based developer Seven45 has laid off as many as thirty people from its studio, a source close to the matter has told Joytiq.

The company recently saw the release of its most recent project, Power Gig: Rise of the SixString, and has confirmed a staff restructuring is in place as per the cyclical regularities of game development.

The commercial response to Power Gig is unclear – the title was stung by numerous critical reviews and has an uphill battle at retail by selling its product at around $200 per unit.

“With Power Gig already on store shelves, last week Seven45 Studios restructured the company both as a part of the natural cycle of game development and to focus on the development needs of its upcoming games projects," the company said in a statement.

Unsubstantiated accounts on social networking site Twitter claimed the studio has been "decimated."

Joystiq’s source suggested otherwise, claiming that up to 30 people were let go, which included most of the QA team and other full-time staff.
