Android community prepares for UK event later this month

Join Intel in London for Droidcon

Hot off the heels of an exhilarating Droidcon Paris, the Android community is already gearing up for its next show: Droidcon London on October 30th to 31st.

The event will kick off with a Barcamp, putting the direction of the day in the hands of the developers. They will have five minutes each to propose their own presentations and those with the most votes will be selected to present during the day.

To follow these presentations, there will then be a fast-paced (and less brutal) Dragon’s Den-style setup, offering developers the chance to give a two-minute demo of their apps to a panel of specialists and investors. Last year, up to £110,000 was raised in funding and grants.

Intel’s developer evangelist Xavier Hallade will be on hand on both days to advise on improving the performance and compatibility of Android apps and libraries with native code. His presentation on Android NDK, starting at 1.45pm on Friday, is also well worth attending.

There’ll also be loads of tools for developers to try out at the Intel booth – whether you’re keen to explore tools for gaming apps like the Intel Graphics Performance Analyzers or you just want to speed up the development process for testing and debugging with tools like Intel HAXM, we’d recommend taking a visit.

There’ll also be a chance to look at tools from Intel partners appfour, which will be showing off its AIDE app family at Intel’s booth and Marmalade Technologies, demoing the Marmalade SDK – a C++ cross-platform tool that enables developers to deploy a single codebase across multiple platforms.

So, make sure you register for Droidcon London and keep up to date with all the latest competitions and prizes at the Intel booth by using #IntelAndroid and following @B_Fraedrich.
