Indie studio working on its “most ambitious game” to date

Konami producer Dave Cox reunites with Castlevania dev MercurySteam

The team behind Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is getting back together for a new title.

MercurySteam co-developed the 2010 instalment in the gothic RPG franchise, as well as its sequels, 2013’s Mirror of Fate and 2014’s Lords of Shadow 2.

Previously, the Spanish studio also created Clive Barker’s Jericho and American McGee’s Scrapland.

Dave Cox worked with MercurySteam during his time as producer and studio head at Konami, where he spent 17 years.

In addition to heading up Lords of Shadow, Cox also worked on Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill and Pro Evo.

Cox and MercurySteam are reuniting for an untitled new sci-fi project, which studio head Eric Alvarez has called its “most ambitious undertaking as an independent studio” to date.

"When I was approached by MercurySteam to get involved in their new project, I jumped at the chance," added Cox.

“It’s been my great fortune and pleasure to work with this talented studio over many years. I’m extremely excited about this very ambitious work they’re undertaking."
