Veteran studio boss Lara Fryer has joined Epic Games, and will serve as general manager of the outfit’s new Seattle Studio.
Fryer brings with her 17 years of industry experience, including her recent tenure as GM of Warner Bros’ of WB Games Seattle.
Her role at Epic’s Seattle operation will see her lead a team which is currently focused on engineering efforts for the company’s popular Unreal Engine 4 middleware platform.
“Laura Fryer is one of the brightest leaders of the game industry today, and we’re thrilled to have her guide our new Seattle studio,” said Epic president Michael Capps. “Laura was a key member of the Gears of War team, and we’ve long hoped to work with her again.”
Fryer also previously served as one of Microsoft Game Studios’ first employees, and in her role as As an executive producer there, she was responsible for shipping both Gears of War and Gears of War 2.
