Studio developing tech to power synchronous multiplayer on mobile

Letter Up developer Flow State Media raises $1m

Letter Up developer Flow State Media has raised $1m from its first funding round.

Backing in the studio came from start-up accelerator SparksLabs Global, which it is a member of, Strong CV, Redwood I and several MIT and Penn alumni angel investors.

As well as developing titles such as Letter Up and Candy Cane Casino: Slots and Bingo, the studio also owns its own technology to power real-time, cross-device multiplayer on mobile devices.

“We have every confidence that live, synchronous multiplayer play is where the mobile market is headed; as has previously been the case on consoles and PCs before that,” said Flow State Media CEO Kahn Jekarl.

“The popularity of Letter UP and the support of our investors further substantiates that we are in the right place with the right focus, technology and games to take advantage of that trend.”
